Initial Ideas and Inspirations

The red heart has always been my favourite subject to work on. My initial idea was to create a room with the heart at the centre and blood vessels running from the heart to the walls. So I came up with the idea of using the body of a teddy bear as the container. The heart always reminds me of the sacrificial rituals in horror films. I really liked the sense of light created by the candles in the darkness, so I added a floating table and candles, as an element of the altar.
Modeling

The modelling process took me a huge amount of time and I learned a lot of new techniques. I used nCloth for the tablecloth, carve for the dripping candles, curves and Mash for the chains. The heart modelling took me three hours.
Choice for Textures

Unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to find more suitable textures. But when I was adding colours I found that maya comes with a lot of preset textures and they all work pretty well. I chose to use velvet for the tablecloth, diamond for the table and heart, wax for candles, ceramic for the teddy bear and metal for the knife and chains.
Final Reasult
I really like to observe the game scene, so my story is base on a imagine a event. Imagine a sence where you open the heavy door into a gloomy room, notice the cursed bear, although intuition makes you feel dangerous, but still can not resist the curiosity to explore what is going on, so you approach this altar ……

I eventually chose to leave my environment in complete darkness, leaving the candles and the light around my heart as the main sources of light.
